From Stress to Strength - Peace of Mind through Yoga

This six weeks course aims to help women deal with stress and anxiety through the teaching of yoga, breathing techniques and deep relaxation.

Classes for Terms 1 and 2:

Thursdays 24 February to 31 March inclusive (Term 1) and 12 May to 16 June inclusive (Term 2).

Book Club - Discussion Group for Learning and Growing with Veronica Pasfield

For the past two years Veronica has run a discussion group with a focus on personal development. Each year a new book is introduced, with the discussion allowing the book to teach how to look at circumstances in life from a different perspective.

The book is always full of information and the discussion is interactive. The purpose of the group is that we each grow in some way from the experience.

You are most welcome to join this group in 2011 to share the principles in Byron Katie's book, "Loving What Is".

Multicultural Craft and Conversation Group

The Multicultural Craft and Conversation Group is a new group being run from Northern Women's Health Centre in 2011. The group will run over four terms, engaging in a different form of craft each term. The craft making will be interspersed with information sessions on topics of interest.

Term 1 - Needle Felting. A dry felting technique, needle felting is the process of making 3D sculptures with needle and wool, by interlocking the wool fibres. Needle felting is gaining in popularity as a way of felting and there are many creative things to make, using needle felting.

Term 2 - Mosaic Art. Mosaic is the way of creating pictures with broken pieces of coloured glass stone, pottery, shells, mirrors or other materials. A form of art with a long history, it is as popular as a form of art today as it was in the past and there are all sorts  of pictures and designs to be created.

We invite all women who are speakers of English as a second language to come along and participate in craft making, while enjoying the company of others, making new friends and generally having fun. Child care is available at no cost.

*NEW* Birth and Beyond Mothers Group

All new mothers and their babies are invited to come together to meet, talk and discuss, in a safe, caring and supportive space, the joys and challenges of transitioning into motherhood. this will also be a wonderful opportunity to share your own personal experiences and learn new ways to support yourself to help alleviate the daily stresses of early parenting. Simple breathing and meditation techniques will be offered throughout each session as a way for mothers of creating a sense of calm and centredness.

The group is facilitated by Bronwyn Hamilton, qualified Doula and Calmbirth Practitioner. Bronwyn has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of childbirth and parenting, and is very passionate about supporting new mothers and their babies throughout this demanding yet rewarding time.

The group will meet every first Thursday of the month during term time, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Dates and details for Terms 1 and 2:

Self-Esteem Course - "It's OK to be me"

This five-week program running in term 2 explores the relationship we have with our self, how we see our self and how we act towards our self. The aim of the workshop is to develop a sense of self-reliance, with a view to developing a greater sense of self-worth and value.

Women's Healing Garden Project

For women who are interested in gardens, learning to garden and the joy of being with other women.

Expressions of interest are being sought for women who are interested in participating in our garden project. Currently the mandala garden is well established with the potential to expand further. Some potential future projects include a tea herb garden and a mosaic path.

If you are interested in this project on a regular basis (usually twice per term) please call our Centre to register your name.


Once a small interested group is established, we will be able to set regular meeting dates and times.

Older Women's Network (OWN) Wyong Group

The aim of OWN is to promote the rights, dignity and well-being of older women. OWN Groups organise a wide range of activities and advocate on issues of concern to older women.
